Balanced Defensive Stance

Explanation: It is very important for a defender to be able to change direction quickly without losing balance and this requires a well balanced stance.

Description: The balanced defensive stance is very similar to the balanced attack stance. However in the defensive stance the feet and body are positioned to send the opponent away from the goal. When sending the opponent to the right side, make the left foot the lead foot and do not allow the ball to pass that foot. The right foot should then be placed opposite to the opponent's right foot.

All other points are the same as for the attack stance, with the hands at the top and bottom of the grip, feet shoulder width apart, with the weight on the balls of the feet. Knees should be bent, head over them and steady. The head of the stick should be on the ground in front of the body.
