Drop Step

Explanation: The drop step is only used when a player fails to protect their lead foot in a defensive situation.

Description: Defenders start from the balanced defensive stance then as the opponent forces a defender to move back in the direction of the lead foot, they move that foot back and pivot on the back foot. After executing this drop step protect the space between the feet using the stick.

Use a quick slide or shuffle steps to regain the balanced defensive stance, while keeping eyes on, and distance from, the ball.

The last stage is to try and place and protect the lead foot once again.
