Stutter, or Hesitation Step

Explanation: This step is the most commonly used way to help a player change pace to deceive or get away from a defender. Using this step players can go from fast to slow and back to fast again.

Description: Starting from a run with the upper body leant slightly forward, holding the stick in the shake-hands position, square the shoulders and feet to the ball.

Start to use short strides, and move lightly on the balls of the feet. At this point the body should be relaxed in a slightly crouched position. Jog on the spot then push of the rear foot to accelerate into another run. When going left push off the right foot and vice versa.

Keep balanced throughout with the head up.
