GK v CF

Aim: To improve stack slide and one-on-one tackling.

How: Some players line up in the center of the 25 yard line, each with a ball. The goalkeeper starts on the penalty spot. The first player in the line starts to dribble the ball towards the goal. Once the player makes it into the shooting circle the goalkeeper can attempt to steal the ball, or use a stack slide to tackle the player.

Each player in the line takes it in turn to try and beat the goalkeeper, whilst the goalkeeper does their best to stop the players from scoring.

Progressions:

  • Have 2 players moving towards the goal at the same time with 1 ball between them.

Coaching Points:

  • Remember to start in the goalkeeping stance
  • Try to clear the ball away to the sides not the top of the circle.
  • Try to maintain balance and quick steps on the balls of the feet.
  • Cover the angles
