Rugby Coaching - Front Tackle on one Knee

Explanation: The front tackle is used when the ball carrier is running directly at the tackler. It is when the tackler is on one Knee which means leg drive is needed to put the player on the ground. This is a more realistic tackle, as after the player has been on the floor they may not have time to return to their feet to make the tackle.

Description: The tackler must keep their eye on the ball carrier. As the ball carrier reaches the tackler, the tackler should move their head to one side of their body. The tackler must then use leg drive to put the ball carrier on the floor.

The ball carrier should turn his body to his team and present the ball arms out away from the oppisition so the ball can easily be picked up by his team.
