Seated Calf Raise

Seated calf raise machines vary from gym to gym. Most will involve the following:

Teaching points

  • Sit on the seat with the front of the foot supported on the platform

  • Pull the lever back to lower the weight onto your thigh, just above the bent knee

  • Raise the heels up to lift the weights

  • Slowly lower the heels back down to the starting position


Variations and progressions

  • To increase the difficulty of the exercise, drop the heels down, past the level of the platform
