Standing Calf Raise

Teaching points

  • Stand with your forefeet supported on the platform and the heels hanging off
  • Position your shoulders in contact with the lower surface of the shoulder pads, keeping the knees straight
  • Maintaining a good posture, lift the shoulder weights up by raising your heels so you are on your tip toes
  • Slowly lower the heels back down, to the starting position
  • Keep the knees straight throughout

Variations and progressions

  • To increase the difficulty of the exercise, drop the heels down, past the level of the platform
