Tennis - Crossover Launch Serve

Explanation: This technique is just another adaptation of the flat serve. Again the footwork is changed to produce more power, but also spin and placement of the serve increased.

How: Players start in the flat serve stance. Changes from the flat serve aren't made until the forward swing when the knees and the shifting of the body weight forward have to take place at the same time.

After the transfer of weight player should drive up off the front leg and again attempt to take the ball at the top of the toss to increase control and power.

A scissor like action then takes place with the legs as the front foot goes back the rear foot comes forward as contact is made with the ball. Players should land on the front foot, that now being left for right handed players, follow through, and get set for the next shot.

Points to Remember: To help increase the spin on this serve players use the continental grip.
