Tennis - Squat Launch Serve

Explanation: This serve is much the same as the thrust launch in that it gives the server more power from the lower body by the feet being closer together.

How: Once again the set up of the flat serve should be used to start this motion. However on the back swing players must also bend their knees and toss the ball.

Players should then drive up off the balls of their feet and start the forward swing. For the cleanest contact and maximum power players should aim to hit the ball when the body is fully extended, with the shoulders and hips rotated towards the net.

Players should land on the lead foot, complete the follow through, and be ready to hit another shot.

Points to Remember: To generate maximum power from this serve players must develop the use of their legs, hips, trunk, shoulders, and have a good wrist snap.
