Practice 4.4 - Shuttle run keep power foot turning

Aim: To develop core movement

Description:

  • Start in a run through position
  • Right-handed thrower will step forward over the left foot to land on right foot
  • The left leg is then pushed back underneath the athletes torso so that athlete lands in a braced standing throw position
  • Athlete should finish in a controlled position
  • Ensure the right foot turns and pushes through out the movement
  • Do not deliver on this drill
  • Repeat 3-5 times each set

Coaching points:

  • Make sure timing is 1,2-3

  • 1.2 - 180 with D ball
  • 1.3 - Run through with D ball

Practice set 2

  • 2.1 - Standing throw with towel
  • 2.2 - 180 towel turn
  • 2.3 - Run through to knee with towel
  • 2.4 - Run through with towel

Practice set 3

  • 3.1- 360 degree rotate with towel
  • 3.2 - 180 degree turn to center
  • 3.3 - Full turn to knee with towel
  • 3.4 - Full turn with towel

Practice set 4

  • 4.1- Hands on hips in circle
  • 4.2 - Hands on hips shuttle
  • 4.3 - Shuttle run stop and turn
  • 4.4 - Shuttle run keep power foot turning
