Practice 3.4 - Crossovers


Aim: To develop the transition (crossover) technique

Description:

  • A small ball, towel, jav ball, or javelin can be used for this drill
  • Concentrate on the lower body carrying the upper body forward
  • The main effort should come from the hips and thighs, not the ankles and feet
  • Repeat 3-5 reps on each lead foot per set

Coaching points:

  • Make sure the athletes centre of gravity moves in a path level to the ground

  • 1.3 - Overhead Throw, left leg forward

  • 2.1 - Overhead Twist to the right

  • 2.3 - Side Facing Overhead Throw

  • 3.1 - 2 Step Medicine Ball Throw
  • 3.2 - 3 Step Throw
  • 3.3 - 5 Step Throw
